I am Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History in the Department of Art at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

I teach twentieth and twenty-first century American and European art. I received my A.B. from Duke University in 1997 and my Ph.D. in History of Art from Yale University in 2007, where I wrote my dissertation on the work of Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter and the politics of visual perception during the cold war. Other research interests include Willem de Kooning, the relationship between painting and photography in the 1950s and 1906s, and the Independent Group.
