Warhol: Headlines

September 26, 2011

An exhibition about Andy Warhol and the culture of newspapers opened at the National Gallery of Art in Washington on September 25th and will travel to Frankfurt, Rome, and Pittsburgh.  I contributed an essay to the catalogue that discusses the importance of paintings like Daily News (1962) in relation to Warhol’s commercial work of the 1950s and his well-known embrace of the mechanical silkscreen method.  You can view the catalogue by clicking here.
